You’re going to hear a lot about 4K and UHD at Computex 2014. The newest resolution technology has spilled over from the home cinema realm and splashed onto your desktop. ASUS is joining in that deluge with the announcement of their latest 28″ 4K UHD display. The ASUS PB287Q sports a resolution of 3840 x 2160, putting it at four times the total resolution of modern 1920 x 1080 displays. This UHD resolution isn’t quite the 4K we’re being sold by the market in general, but given current tech, it’s the closest we’ll get for a while. Think of it as the 720p of 4K.
That doesn’t mean this display doesn’t look impressive. ASUS has put their best foot forward with the PB287Q. The true 10-bit display can show upwards of 1.07 billion (with a b) colours. Those colours are transported to the screen over either DisplayPort 1.2 or HDMI 1.4, though you’ll want to use the DisplayPort due to its higher 60Hz refresh.

There is also Picture-in-Picture (PiP) and Picture-by-Picture (PbP) support, with users being able to switch  between video sources easily. PiP mode lets users display native resolution content up to 1080P from a second input source in a window placed in a corner position of their choice.  PbP mode lets the user connect two PCs to the same monitor and view the desktops of both simultaneously on one screen that is split into two.
The PB287Q features a slim, ergonomic design with a full range of swivel, tilt, pivot and height adjustments to provide the user with an ideal viewing experience.The PB287Q is also VESA mount compatible for wall or stand mounting.

The ASUS PB287Q features the new SplendidPlus™ Video Intelligence Technology that optimizes videos and images by enhancing color brightness, contrast, and sharpness. It features two new modes —Reading and Darkroom — in addition to the Scenery, Standard, Theater, sRGB, Game, and Night View modes found in previous versions.
