At CES 2015 this year, we caught up with LaCie, a division of Seagate Technology, to find out what's new in the premium storage market. They showed us a number of things, including their premium Mirror USB 3.0 drive. However, one of the most practical things that stood out in their product line, was the LaCie Rugged RAID 4TB Thunderbolt Portable Drive. This product is basically two 2TB 2.5 inch 5400RPM drives, sandwiched a larger version of their original Rugged Enclosures, that look like a life raft of some sorts. Check out the video above for a quick run down!

Coupled with a hardware RAID controller, the LaCie Rugged RAID is able to support both RAID0 and RAID1. While RAID0 provides the fastest 240MB/s speed, over Thunderbolt, the drive's best feature is the RAID1 capability. As you can imagine, if you're a creative professional, shooting video or photos around the world, having a fully redundant storage vessel in one, can save space in your bag, and give you peace of mind that your work will make it home.

The LaCie Rugged RAID 4TB Thunderbolt Portable Drive comes with a 3 year warranty, and also supports USB 3.0. It retails for $449.99 US, and we'll have a review of it coming up very soon.
