NZXT decided to be a little different this time around with their product release. If you recall from our Phantom 630 review, they decided to add a small box that allowed one to hub all their fans into one spot on the back of the motherboard tray. This feature was also present on their Phantom 820 which came beforehand. We thought the feature was great and now NZXT has decided to sell it to everyone as the new Grid Internal Fan Hub. And if sneaking a product under the radar wasn’t enough, they also released an update to the original Sentry Mix fan controller, by slapping a 2 on the end and making some vital tweaks.
The Grid Internal Fan Hub allows you to hook up a maximum of 10 fans and power them off one 4 pin Molex power connector. The Grid is compact and can be mounted internally to help tame the wires in your case. This is especially helpful when you have a large number of fans and with it, a large number of fan cables to manage.
The best part is the MSRP which is an affordable $11.99 USD, making it standard issue for any cable management task.
Also being released from NZXT is the Sentry Mix 2 external Fan Controller which as we mentioned earlier, is an update to the original Sentry Mix controller, which looked like a DJ mixer hence the name “Mix”. The Sentry Mix 2 seems to take in all the consumer suggestions and improves on the original. For example, there are larger sliders, 6 selectable LED colors, easy to see channel indicators, and the same sleek style of the original.
Coming in at an MSRP of $29.99 US, the Sentry Mix 2 is just also very competitively priced.
