ioSafe is one of the leading companies when it comes to private cloud storage. They building some of the largest, easiest to use NAS units you can buy; however, their true claim to fame is their focus on building disaster proof storage solutions. In fact, during Michael’s review of an ioSafe hard drive, he baked it in an oven and submerged it in water and it still worked. This year at CES 2014, ioSafe will be showing off their new NAS 1513+ powered by Synology.

The new ioSafe NAS 1513+ comes in 5 to 15 drive bays (for up to 90 TB of storage), powered by a dual-core Intel Atom CPU at 2.13 GHz, comes with 2 GB of RAM (expandable up to 4), and boast performance up to 350.9 MB/s with standard mechanical HDDs. The prices for the diskless unit starts at $1599.99 MSRP, but it also comes with support for everything from visualization to automatic off-site backups through DRS Pro for $2.99 per month per TB.

It seems like every year ioSafe comes to CES, they want to take one of their NAS units and set it on fire or expose it to the power of a lightning bolt. They say it is to demonstrate how durable their products are. We say they just enjoy playing with powerful and awesome toys. Either way we are sure this year will be no different and we can’t wait to see what they have in store. You can find out more about the NAS designed to out-live you below.
