It’s a shame that devices like these have to exist. But we know that scumbags like to steal things at LAN parties and that’s why NZXT created the Bunker which is a USB peripheral locking device that installs easily in one of your 5.25 drive bays. In addition to adding four more USB 2.0 ports, the bunker provides a bit of theft deterrence for your USB connected peripherals like your keyboard and mouse. Check out the video above for everything you wanted to know about it.
Final Thoughts and Conclusions
Overall, the NZXT Bunker is a product that serves its purpose adequately. It is definitely a theft deterrent, but it sure wouldn’t make your system theft proof. It’s just one of the things you can do to make your system less of a target. Â You should combine this with locking your side panels as you can easily hijack the bunker once you gain access to the inside of the case. But not locking up everything is like leaving your window open at your house and locking the front door: what’s the point.
If one really wants to break in, then there really isn’t much stopping some scumbag from tearing away your keyboard and mouse and the NZXT Bunker with it. It really is only just plastic. But at $24.99 US, it’s reasonable enough to consider and probably hard to resist when it goes on sale. The extra USB 2.0 ports are a nice addition as well.
