Since NVIDIA's GAME24 Event, which brought gamers and PC enthusiasts from around the world together, everyone hasbeen crazy about the company's second generation Maxwell powered GPUs, which power their new desktop parts: The GeForce GTX 980 and GeForce GTX 970. Eric just recently put the top of the line GeForce GTX 980 through its paces and was very impressed by the performance for the price. The retail GPUs offered by NVIDIA's board partners have been equally impressive. Now that the launch of the desktop parts is out of the way, it's time to focus on the mobile side of things.
MSI has been one of the notebook companies that has really pushed the gaming culture into their gaming notebook designs with both top of the line hardware, and aesthetics that appeal to most of the demographic. Today, MSI announces refreshes of their GS Stealth, GS Ghost and GT Dominator series of notebooks, which incorporate NVIDIA's latest mobile Maxwell architecture, which offers increased performance, with even more power savings than before. This is in addition to all the other gaming features that these lines of MSI gaming notebooks are known for which include 4th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 processors, Killer E2200 Game Networking, Sound Blaster Cinema, Dynaudio Technology, XSplit Gamecaster, 4K HDMI Output, Matrix Display and NVIDIA Surround View. Some models, like the GS Stealth/Ghost, even have the latest 4X M.2 SATA SSDs, which keep the chassis thin, while making sure the speed and capacity stay high.
One interesting new feature is the new SHIFT power adjustment technology, which basically, mimics the ride modes on some Supercars. Three settings, take you from GREEN, which is your power saving mode, to COMFORT, which is more of a balanced mode between power consumption and performance, all the way to SPORT, which means you'll want to be by a power outlet.
Returning to the MSI gaming series of notebooks is the excellent SteelSeries backlit keyboard, which gives you a billion colors and customizations to play with. If that's not enough, MSI is also launching a GS70 Stealth Pro in Crimson Red, which will be considered a special edition, so you'll want to grab one if you want one right away.
MSI's lightest and thinnest GS70 Stealth Pro (including the Crimson Red model) and GS60 Ghost Pro models start at $1599 USD. The more heavy duty GT72 Dominator, GT70 Dominator and GT60 Dominator gaming laptops will also start at the same price, but will offer a bit more performance for the dollar because they aren't so thin and light. The entire series will feature NVIDIA’s GTX 900M graphics all around.
