Everyone needs an “enthusiast” or “gaming” brand as part of their portfolio, right? It was just the other day that we were talking about quantum dot monitors and now AOC has thrown its name into the arena by launching a new gaming brand to fall under its growing umbrella. Well, not the AOC name, per se. Say hello to AGON.
According to Wikipedia, Agon (not in all caps) is an ancient Greek term that generally refers to a struggle or contest, particularly in the realms of athletics, chariot racing or horse racing, as well as music or literature at a public festival. I imagine AOC is trying to tap into the whole athletics thing with eSports for AGON and not so much about singing songs and writing stories… though they may want to have some epic tales to tell.
Part of the reason why AOC went with the all-caps is that AGON is an acronym; you can see what it stands for in the press release below. AOC notes that they’re already actively involved with eSports, like their involvement with team Na’Vi and with European ESL tournament organizers. With AGON, they aim to continue providing high performance with a convenient design, like headset hangers, handy monitor grips, and G-Sync support.
The AGON product lineup is expected to launch in the Asia Pacific region soon, hopefully with the rest of the global market to follow thereafter.

AGON displays will be designed with user comfort in mind. AOC Flicker Free and Low Blue Light will be included for added eye protection. The displays will also have a new, custom-designed AOC Ergo Enhance setup. The setup includes a brand new height and angle-adjustable stand, a built-in headset hanger, and more. The adjustable stand gives gamers the freedom to play at their preferred angles and positions, and even track the precise angles and measurements for future use. The built-in headset hanger also allows gamers to hang headsets on the display, which results in time and storage space saved. AGON will be holding a launch event for the AG271QX/ AG271QG / AG322FCX/ G2460PFG and 2460VQ6 variety of professional gaming monitors. The event will see renowned live broadcaster from all over the world, and Taiwan attending. This includes broadcaster of Hearthstone-YeBai, broadcaster of LoL- Big God, famous broadcaster – AsSen, sex broadcaster- Tsuki; and host of gaming show- Sandy, must be bustling with activity.
