Ok, so you have an ultrafast, ultramobile workstation. The machine brings the best of both worlds; great portability and horsepower to spare. Unfortunately you had to make a sacrifice in the storage department to get the desired portability, or at least you thought you did. Seagate announced that its Samsung HDD division is shipping a new 2.5″ Spinpoint M9T, which at 9.5 mm thin and the world’s thinnest 2TB hard drive.
At release this new line will actually come in both 1.5TB and 2TB capacities, giving you a couple options for additional storage in your ultraportable laptop. The M9T isn’t only for mobile though; it would be just at home in an ITX LAN box. The new drive has all the features you’d expect from a modern hard drive, including a SATA 6 GB/s interface and micro actuation, along with NoiseGuard and SilentSeek technologies. This will ensure fast, consistent hard drive performance, while delivering ultra-quiet operation.
The Spinpoint M9T hard drive is currently available in the Samsung Portable product line, which includes the M3 Portable and P3 Portable external drives, as well as with select OEM partners. You can learn more at the Samsung Hard Drives home page.
