ooooh.......................

I preordered!.....but it won't be here til next week.

The good news is that I got it for $62.99 + GST. :)

Firewire September 30th, 2003 08:29 PM

I love being the Chief ;)

SuperAL October 1st, 2003 05:30 AM

Going to do a review? :D

What specs are you running on?

Firewire October 1st, 2003 08:55 AM

I would love to at least show some screenies...

But I can't even get it to run right :(

I'm running an Athlon XP2200+ with a gig of Ram and a geForce Ti4400 128MB. It just crashes and crashes and crashes.

Spectre Of Life October 1st, 2003 09:50 AM

Heh.. sounds like Microsoft. Guess the hunt for the patch/driver updating begins. :monkey: xx)

Firewire October 1st, 2003 09:51 AM

It started last night :(

Gimli October 1st, 2003 11:44 AM

Give it to me! remember.. you dont play games ;)

I'd hate to have to visit the newsgroups ;)

SuperAL October 1st, 2003 03:58 PM

Gearbox's fault really ;)

hm... I heard it has incompatibility problems without other refresh rate programs. Reforce or something. Other than that you should just turn off V-sync in the display prefs for your vid card.

Firewire October 1st, 2003 04:30 PM

VSync has been disabled. I run all my games that way. It is still no go :(

At least it isn't rebooting the machine now xx)

bender October 1st, 2003 06:54 PM

so how fast of a computer does it recommend you have in order to run it?

SuperAL October 1st, 2003 07:10 PM

bare minimum is a 733 with a geforce2mx or ati equivalent. It'll look reaaaaaaallly :crap: by then.

Single player is intense mostly because of the AI so a speedy CPU is recommended. Multiplayer runs smoothly though (I've heard).

Apparently Gearbox and MS are working on patches so hopefully engine optimization is in the works.

Firewire October 1st, 2003 07:11 PM

They better have a patch soon! :monkey:

hm.... What are your settings in-game? (video)
nvidia driver version?
error message?

OS?

Here's something to try.

In a shortcut to halo.....

type -use11 quotation marks in the target line. That forces PS1.1 to run.

Firewire October 1st, 2003 07:37 PM

I've got it at 1024 x 768 with Vsync off, and the refresh at 60Hz till I can get this working. All the eye candy is off or low.

I'm using version 45.23 of the Detonators (latest)
The error message when I try to start up again is that it didn't exit properly last time (to that effect), that you should start in safe mode, which I have done, and I still can't get the game to load into a level. It just crashes out.

I'm running it with XP Pro and the "-use11" didn't seem to do anything. I just get the same results.

Bugger...

SuperAL October 1st, 2003 07:43 PM

crikey. :(

how about setting the ingame refresh control to the 30fps cap? (not sure if the setting is there)

AA and AF should be application pref or off too, but I guess you don't have those on.

Man... this sounds like a crappy port. There's another patch to be released within the week.

Firewire October 1st, 2003 08:29 PM

Well patch me up doc, cuz this sucker ain't running without it! xx)

SuperAL October 2nd, 2003 04:05 PM

hm... have you tried reinstalling DX9.0b and the nvidia drivers? It's worth a shot.

how about using -use14 (force pixel shaders 1.4)

Firewire October 2nd, 2003 04:19 PM

Yup. Uninstalled and reinstalled new nVidia reference drivers and DX9.0b.

Tried -use14, but no affect.

This is truly sucky...

SuperAL October 2nd, 2003 05:19 PM

crap...out of ideas (from what I've seen around other forums).
