What would be your favourite or coolest club?

I would have to say that I enjoy:

7 Alexander locally
The Joker Toronto

I'm not really into clubs much, but if you are ever looking for a cool little bar to hangout in and listen to some live eastern music go to the Atlantic Trap and Gill. It's on the corner of Seymour and Davie.

I used to go there every wednesday with friends that lived across the street, but they have moved and we don't go as often. It's a great place though. I think the live band starts around 8:30??

Another vote for the Blarney, where you can just hang back, relax, chat and have some laughs and beer with friends. The band plays pretty good U2 too!

The Blarney is great when my favourite holiday comes around.. none other than Saint Patrick's Day. (I'm Irish!).. :P

I believe the Starfish Room will no longer be a venue for concerts :(

I haven't gone to a club in like a year? It's hard to find a club where I can dance to good music and not have the youngins' around...BWAHAHAHA

My friends and I usually laugh and say "geez, were we *really* like that??!!" And then we say yes.

What's Purple Onion like? I heard it wasn't all techno stuff... but i've been out of the club scene for a while. Maybe I should go back to tailgate parties in the bush. :o

RosieTulips
February 1st, 2002, 03:24 PM
The few times that I've gone to the Purple Onion...80's on one side and eccentric (like jazz-like, electronic...) on the other.

I feel too old to be clubbing in some places.

Ken
February 1st, 2002, 03:32 PM
I forget which club, but I knew a friend who's buddy used to hang out during week nights when they would host TV sessions of 90210 or other shows like that where tons of girls would come down to watch also. :D That was way back in the day though.

Ye, I think I'm a tad old to be clubbin'... :p

I just went to a club called Luce the other night. I think it's only been around a couple of months. Anyways, it's an over-25 club (well, us young'uns got in anyways, must have been the short skirts....). It was pretty good, they played a pretty decent mix of music (although the DJ could stand to take a few lessons...).

My only complaint was that the girl to guy ratio was about 3:1, and a LOT of the girls were seriously dressed out - we're talking skin-tight zebra print jumpsuit, fake-n-bake, silicone, two cans of hairspray, flat tummy kinda dressed up. I felt very underdone and overweight. Maybe it's just cuz I was in a bad mood - next time I go there, watch out - can we say skanked out? Now, to find the perfect outfit...

Tiphness
February 4th, 2002, 10:07 PM
Luce is soo trendy.. lots of little girls with dollars signs in their eyes.. kinda the new Au Bar.. too cliquey for mee.

Splitfyre
February 4th, 2002, 11:39 PM
I might go there anyways (LUCE). It might remind me of some of the girls from Vegas! :p

Sapph.. as they say in SWINGERS the movie (good movie btw).. "You're Money"... You don't need to compete with those fake and bakes.

It's always fun to look at the weird creations (the fake and bakes) that are created thanks to society's weird outlook on life with regards to what's beautiful and what's not.

As of late i have been frequenting the Lotus lounge and shine.......

Sapphyre
February 6th, 2002, 12:09 AM
Uh, thanks Split. That'll be my mantra from now on: " I am SO money!" (that was a great movie!)

I know I don't have to compete! (especially cuz I know that I at least have half a brain between my ears) (I was just in a bad mood last time I went clubbing)

Ok, back to clubs. Some of my friends are heading to the Urban Well downtown this weekend. I've never been there, what's it like? I've been to the one in Kits, it was decent.

And the DJ wasn't great the night I went to Shine, but like I said, different nights, different stuff, plus that was like three months ago.

back to clubs...what do you all think about:

the roxy?
mavericks?
richards?
shine?
sonar?
stone temple?
the viper room?
au bar?
bar none?
club 23?
got any favorite bar/lounge/club? whats the atmosphere?:people, music, location, setup, etc...

RosieTulips
March 10th, 2002, 03:30 PM
*LOL* I haven't been to a lot of those clubs listed....

Stone Temple is another Wild Coyote I think...

But The Roxy... I have something to say. If you like listening to cover tunes of 80's and 90's music, this is your place!! Want to rock out?? Go here! Large mix of people of different ages. Really casual. Guys, if you have muscles, this is your place to show them off!! BWAHAHAHA Okay, that wasn't funny. But you get my drift.

My favourite club is Luvafair on the weekends. They don't play pop :D They play modern rock and some techno. Definitely have great tunes for dancing to! And Tequlia Roses are on special. Yummay! You could wear anything and get away with it. Want to dress up? Go for it! Want to wear ripped up jeans and your 10 year old shirt? Sure!

Sapphyre
March 10th, 2002, 04:32 PM
Roxy: yuck. just don't like it.

Maverick's: not bad (i've only been to the one in Burnaby), but the DJ sucked (couldn't mix to save his life - I think Supa could show him a thing or two!)

Shine: cute little venue, last time I was there, the DJ was really good

Stone Temple: bad layout, can't see the dance floor from the upstairs

Au Bar: I've had a lot of good times there (hey, I met Supa there last year, although neither of us figured that out until December...long story)

Bar None: I've spent more time in the office upstairs in that building (ex-boyfriend used to work there...been there..um...late a few nights   ) than in the actual club, the one time I was actually there, the music was way too loud and there was a whole slew of drunken Mexicans!

I still miss the old Babalus, I've had the most fun nights there (then again, I think it's the people I was with)

Oh, and I also like Sand Bar sometimes, a bit of an older crowd, but nice views!

Loft Six is one good place to hang with friends. Its the only club I know of in Vancouver that also serves up a damn fine dynamite roll! :p Yes they do sushi there too :) For all your house beats check it out if you're in Vancouver.. Loft Six is located in Gastown a few steps away from the Blarney Stone.
