The prices of good colour inkjet printers have been dropping over the years, with many models this year hitting the under $80 CDN mark. One such printer is made by HP called the 3320. Lets see what $80 CDN dollars can buy you today.

Hello. I do contract work for HP and do lots of work on these and other models of printers. Just a few comments I'd like to add.
First off, the 3320 is a $49 printer, the 3420 is $79. The differences are that the 3420 includes the black cartridge and prints color at 2400 x 1200 dpi compared to 1200 x 600 for the 3320.
One thing to note is the 3425 that just came out. It runs for $89. It is exactly the same as the 3420, but it has a clear lid that you can insert printable covers in. It's really cool looking and should really appeal to the modder crowd. I've been into the modding scene for a long time is this is just the thing I've been looking for when it comes to printer mods. Really worth looking into. Check out hpshopping.com for details on it. Here's a pic of it:

Another thing, the speed of the printer really improves when you put in a black pen. With just the color, it's REALLY slow IMO :)
Great review BTW!! Fun reading reviews of products you toil over day in and day out. lol

Well over here on the west coast of Canada we sell those 3320s for $79 and so do our major competitors and the 3420 is sold at $99 CDN.
Though that cover for the printer on the 3425 is kinda neat :)

Thanks for the feedback! The article was specified in CDN funds and because of the weak buck, after conversion, the price does look at bit higher.
