View Full Version : How do you like your restaurants?

What kind of decor and atmosphere do you like your restaurants to have?

Sometimes I'm into casual restaurants, but not usually into pub food.

But I love going to higher end restaurants...Maybe it's the service...the quiet atmosphere...I dunno! And I can usually find something on the menu that's healthy and low-fat that's not a salad.

what do you consider a higher end restaurant??? earls? the cannery? the keg?

personally, it depends on my mood....i like cactus/earls/joeys, trendy, friendly and outgoing hangout, good food, for decent prices and lively colours....

i am not into eating at pubs though i do like the prices and the homestyle food...

and i also like places with entertainment like a monglian grill type place....

diversity is the key....as long as its not smoky, its clean, the waitress/waiter know how to please you, and it serves what you pay for....

I've never been to The Cannery. Restaurants like Earl's and The Keg are not high end to me...the make me think casual. Maybe I like formal dining? Stuff you'd find in a "Fine dining" section?? Where a dinner for 2 could go for around $100?

I can't think of any specific restaurants that I'm talking about off the top of my head right now, but I'll give an update.

BWAHAHAHA Hmm...saving money to go out to eat is worth it to me, I think!! I don't dine out in such a fashion that often. If I could ($$$) and had someone to go with, I probably would!!

I like any place that has decent service, a funky decor, and most of all - good food! I'm not really into places like Earl's (Red Robin's not too bad every once in a while), I like places that are either ethnic (LOVE Thai food), or else have really good steak or pasta. Also, I love going to places where you can chill and have a good time with your friends, and pubs when there's a good game on.

Wherever I go, I expect to get what I pay for, served with a smile, of course. :)

If your wanting formal...

Your looking for those resturants that have like 5 course meals.

I've been told that the Downtown Douglas Campus has a really nice Formal Dinner ever once in a while for their Culinary Chefs in training.

Some of the plays also have Formal Dinners beforehand.

One of my favourate resturants is Anducci's near Lougheed Mall. Small, candle light lit, large servings, decent pricing.. and good =)

Though on the other hand I like pubs. Ya know.. Old English or Irish pubs with wooden decor.. and stuff.. but the food has to be good.

I dont like Red Robins and things like that too much.. I dont want to be bothered by bratty little childern screaming and yelling ;) Though when I have kids.. that would be another story.

Bah. Decor. Atmosphere. Cleanliness. A Jedi craves not these things.

Give me a hole in the wall with great food anytime. :)

That post reminds me of what happened when I went to Hong Kong. My relatives and I went into this little hole-in-the-wall-ish restaurant, and my 6 year-old cousin pipes up, "mommy, why did you bring me to a place like *this*"? Needless to say, she got a lecture for that one.

but mm...there are so many lovely little restaurants in Hong Kong ...if only they had English on their menus...

I can relate to the English on Chinese Menus.. went to a Hong Kong cafe.. boy was it crowded.. two other parties sat at the same round table as us for lunch.. peculiar huh.. had to get help from my cousin about the menu..

I think for restaurant standards at this point in life.. I expect good tasting food for good value - good portions. I don't really know if i'm up for fine dining.. I think it's kind of a waste of money.. maybe going once in a blue moon for special occasions is alright.. but spending an arm & a leg for artistic cuisine is not my idea of money well spent.
