Ok, here is my take on the whole matter...no one is going to win. I do think HD-DVD has a slight edge due to the price of its players, but visually they are identical. Blu-Ray may have a slight edge with the gaming crowd due to the PS3. You have to figure (and I have seen some articles stating this) that most people are quite satisfied with the picture quality on standard DVD's unconverted. So to me this amounts to the majority of the population are not compelled to upgrade.

Think of it this way, is it really that big of a difference in image quality for the average Joe going from standard DVD to HD? Because that is the only real difference is the picture quality. Unlike VHS vs DVD, the HD formats really don't change much other than picture. You don't have any advancement like not having to rewind tapes :D. Also don't forget the fact that you have all of these DVD's sitting there, but now you have to play $30 for it in HD? :weird:

Now to be honest, if my DVD player were to die today, I would take an honest look at an HD-DVD player over a Blu-Ray. But that has more to do with I dislike Sony than anything else :P

I think that both formats will be with us for awhile at any rate. It is more expensive for the consumer this way, but that's the way it goes.
