Hey, did you guys hear about the new treadmill workstation? It is a computer desk hooked to a slow treadmill. I think it sounds funny. I'm not sure how well I'd be able to work on a treadmill. : ) I'm not very good at typing and walking at the same time!
You know, maybe it would be good for PART of the day, but not the whole thing. Would you guys use one?

Do you need to use the treadmill in order to power up your computer?? How does it work??

I don't see how that would be any different from simply placing a treadmill infront of the computer (obviously having the computer placed on a higher surface to meet eye level). My dad used to sit his laptop on the crossbars of his treadmill so he could surf the net and do work while he walks. It is kind of a rediculous idea alltogether though.
If anything, I think a spring loaded weighted foot rest extending from under the desk would be a smarter more viable option. It would consume no electricity, be small, and could present itself as both a means of excercise (you would simply push outward/forward with your feet to exercise your legs) and rest them aswell (hence the term foot rest).
But a treadmill? I don't understand that one very well. The up and down motion would make it harder to type, and being in a standing position all day would strain your back.

Interesting idea. I could never use it though. I am too clumsy to exercise,e ven walking the treadmill, without paying attention to what my feet are doing and my body alignment.

There is no way I could type on the treadmill. Now this might be neat to read your daily papers or blogs online while you work the treadmill. I personally wouldn't buy one though.

A voice recognition program, those that type what you talk, might work with the treadmill workstation.

It would be kind of difficult to control a mouse too. Most people on a bike like to site while supporting their hands on a bar. Unless you have some sort of touch screen arrangement. Or better yet, something like what they had on the movie "Minority Report" ...just point your hand.

Wow, I didn't hear, but that's awesome, I spend so much time behind my computer every day.

I like this idea! I'm not sure I could type while walking on a treadmill, but
if it would happen to be a mini-treadmill for while *sitting* at the computer,
just for leg work, it would certainly help with the blood clot problem that
people can get from sitting at a desk too long!

Seems really funny. I am not sure how can one work out on both at same time. I can't do both at the same time. How can it be connected?? how can we work it out simultaneously?? I need to check it out coz' it is hard to imagine.

The only way I would use it, is if it powered the computer with my walking, and then I would watch a DVD instead of working. I mean, my work better be extremely well paid to not even have the time to exercise without having to work!

If it powered your computer, it would need some sort of voltage regulator. It would probably burn out the electronics. I'd hate to be working on some big project and have the computer flock off because I was not pedaling hard enough ;)

I think the voice recognition might solve some of the problems that I personally would have with it. That would be a great feature to add.
