I friend of mine sent me this link about how people are putting spyware and such on your cellphones to keep an eye on what you're doing - sometimes literally. Check it out. Makes you think all this new gadgetry isn't worth it, at least it does me.
Wow. I had no idea that this was going on. Well, it was only a matter of time. People can figure out how to hack anything.
That's kind of scary. Is there an anti-spyware program for your cellphon eor something?

If there isn't an anti spyware after this gets out I would think that there will be. I had not heard anything about this yet. Thanks for letting us be aware of it.

I think they mentioned something about getting spyware for the cell phone. Thankfully, I have internet and text messaging blocked on my phone, so it's not likely anyone would be able to hack into it.

This is very creepy, always keep your phone in your possession!

then there's this:
iPhone a Trojan Horse For Government Surveillance?
I don't plan on getting the "latest and greatest" phones. I just want to be able to make phone calls, I don't care about all the bells and whistles.

They are finding more and more ways to control and monitor the things that we do.

I guess it'd be good if you drove your car off the cliff and was stranded at the bottom of a chasm ;)

They probably wouldn't bother with you then. What fun would that be? :)

LOL. Good answer. How soon before the fire, police or paramedics don't come because you earn less than 60K a year? Oops, already happening in certain cities/neighbourhoods in the states. My bad.

Well, I know Disney has a phone that parents can give to their kids that allows them to be tracked. But, I'm not sure with some kids that I'd WANT to know where they were! Privacy sure isn't what it used to be, is it?

You just hit the button and say "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!" and the people will come like in the commercial :thumb:

When I was paying for mine, I just had a cheap prepaid Tracfone, but my job just gave me a Razor, and I have to say I am spoiled now and probably wouldn't want anything else.

I'm sure the Razor is great, but I like my privacy, and if having a cheap, no-frills phone will help me to maintain it, I'd say the trade-off is worth it. ;)

We have a winner, ladies and gentlemen. How soon before houses/apartments are built with secret cameras. Sheesh.

Some nice linkage, interesting stuff but I dont think there is a problem yet.
The more worrying thing is the trend for more and more computing power in these small devices. People say they are safe because they dont go for the fancy phone etc but do you think you'll evn be able to buy a basic phone in ten years?
I think while there's not much danger yet the trend is alarming!

Are you kidding, Nomad? They're trying to develop a Star Trek communicator/tricorder! Didn't you know that? LOL ;)

and is Big Brother's questionable cousin going to get all the information that's in your cell phone.
Some program showed how there is the technology to pull all the information off your cell phone from a location such as a nearby roof.
The demonstration was done with someone standing on a nearby roof when people were going into the Academy Awards. The person on the roof was able to get the contents of a couple of the stars' address book from their cell phone.
I don't happen to know how available this technology is to the average creep, but its enough to make you think twice about filling up the cell phone with personal information.

Keep all personal info off ALL devices that are connected wireless or by cable, ADSL. All critical info should be on hard copy in a safe place and not on your comp, hand held, or telephone. Ever.
