View Full Version : Did you guys even notice... Firewire November 20th, 2006, 10:44 PM ...that the Microsoft ZUNE launched! No line ups. No hoopla. I'd hate to say this, but poor MS. I was hoping someone would step up with a true iPod killer. Sunk before the battle. :( SuperAL November 21st, 2006, 05:33 PM I only knew cuz I was reading up about it. Quite the silent launch :(. It's too bad they didn't have some sort of promotion along with Gears of War (include the soundtrack or something) or HD DVD connectivity ala the USB port. It's like they haven't advertised it at all. RosieTulips November 22nd, 2006, 09:07 AM I'm sure there is a reason why the launch was so quiet?? I saw one when I was in Target, and the Zune looked big! SuperAL November 22nd, 2006, 04:09 PM yeah it's a bit thicker than the iPod. It's longer due to the massive screen  Firewire December 7th, 2006, 11:46 PM I can't believe it is now the #2 Digital Music Player behind Apple at 13%. Gimli December 17th, 2006, 09:00 AM I think the WiFi sharing it kinda neat, except for when you transfer a song to your buddies, it deletes it from yours. Well its obvious they have they feature, but I guess I would just have to upload the song to my Zune again right? I wouldn't say no to one if someone gve it to me for christmas though. ---------------- Manual Sig 3 Most Recent Blog Entries: http://www.tingram.ca/display_blog.php (http://www.tingram.ca/) Firewire December 17th, 2006, 11:31 AM Zune is cooler than iPod? http://www.megatechnews.com/im-a-zune-im-an-ipod/ Jag December 18th, 2006, 01:52 AM You sunk, my battleship! Ho. Ho. Ho. (Simpsons quote!) No hype at all makes for bad publicity and low sales. reviewer December 18th, 2006, 10:20 AM The only publicity I've heard is bad publicity. Microsoft is probably hoping to enter the market and just latch on, like with the X-Box. Jag December 18th, 2006, 08:29 PM But the danger of being just latched on is that somebody could step on your fingers and then you'd fall off. You need to establish a strong foothold before expanding, imo. SuperAL December 18th, 2006, 09:18 PM Zune Zune Zune! Zune zune zune zune zune... Oh wait.... wrong commercial. :p It'll take time...that's for sure. reviewer December 19th, 2006, 09:42 AM Frankly, I think there's a market for iPod to be knocked down - it's not a perfect device (self-install of battery replacements, pretty please!!) but I doubt Microsoft will be the company to do it. FourBear December 19th, 2006, 08:59 PM In any case, it will be tough to gain any sort of foothold. It will be an uphill battle for any company that wants to take on Apple, I think, unless they have something truly unique to offer. tater03 December 20th, 2006, 09:49 AM I seen one the other day and to me it looked pretty good. I have not seen a whole lot of promotion on it thought. You would think with the holiday being here it would be plastered everywhere. Not sure what to make of that? wallew January 16th, 2007, 11:47 PM The funny part is M/S was sitting on $60 BILLION in the bank 'waiting' to latch on to some 'new tech' to drop money on. Some of it went to HD DVD. I hadn't even heard about Zune, so they sunk money into that. Though not much. M/S makes a PROFIT of over $1Billion a month. Yes, Billion with a 'B'. PER MONTH. They've been sitting on their hands just waiting for something new to hit the market. Their plan is to swoop in, buy the company (probably pay twice it's worth) and then do the 'big roll out'. I thought they would make a big Hoopla with HD DVD. But they didn't. Kind of makes one wonder what 'old Bill' is doing in Redmond these days don't it? |
