I got my husband Sirius a while back because he wanted to listen to Howard Stern (ugh) and because he likes the sports coverage. I really like it too though because of the commercial-free music. Some friends of mine swear by XM, but I don't know much about it. Anyone have XM?

I've got XM. I actually prefer it for the music. They seem to have more variety. But yeah, if you want Stern, you gotta get SIRIUS.

Other than that, they both sound roughly the same in terms of sound quality. The equipment is comparable too. It's mainly just programming.

SIRIUS does have a unique LIFETIME subscription option though. That was pretty cool.

I have heard that about XM too, that they have better variety with the music. If it were up to me we'd probably have gone with that, but you're right: my man loves his Stern.

I wouldnt pay for radio no matter who was on it. Stern is not that great to me, i can only listen to juvenile sex talk for so long before it gets old. I have enough ways to spend my money i dont need another expense. How is satellite radio doing profit wise? I would like to hear if im alone on this or have people jumped on the band wagon with the idea?

I love the commercial free, static free, sound quality. Everyone that hears it asks "is that a CD?" The first time my GF got in the car after I installed it, and she was listening to FM on the way home from work that same day said "Wow... Clear..."

I don't do talk radio. I don't care who's talking.

It is really weird though, because now that he's not regulated by the FCC Stern and his pals cuss up a storm. Every time I let out a little gasp because I forget he's not on the regular radio.

Look at me, gasping over cuss words. I think I have officially attained my prude status.

LOL i find the older you get the more unnecessary they are. I do the same thing with cuss words and dirty talk. I always think. Isnt this old already? Haven't we said all this? LOL. Its so common. *gets the walker out*

A growing vocabulary allows us to call someone an ass without using that word ;)

Yeah, great point Firewire. By the way, exactly how many different ways are there to call someone an ass?? ;)

Probably WAY too many and we'd offend a bunch of people in the process if we start coming up with them!

Yeah, you're right. Sorry, I wasn't trying to open that particular can of worms. My mistake!
