I can't see myself getting one of these...too expensive for a "luxury" I don't need. If I want to watch DVDs, I'll stay at home :) Does anyone have one? How is the battery life?

If I want to watch DVDs, I'll stay at home :) Does anyone have one? How is the battery life? Firewire August 22nd, 2006, 10:18 AM I use my laptop normally if I need to watch something on the road. I don't normally have time to watch movies when I am on the road. I'd rather be doing something else, unless I'm at home. Then I have a home theatre system so I can truly enjoy a movie. sbarber77 August 22nd, 2006, 05:25 PM We don't have one yet but want to get one eventually. They are great for travelling with kids. We borrowed one last year when we decide to drive to a family reunion with my ten year old step son. We didn't let him watch it the whole trip (you do have to enjoy some scenery). However, driving across the Saskatchewan prairies is just not that exciting! Slashmire August 23rd, 2006, 07:37 PM The thing I always hated was the life of the battery. I remember in the time that they were new, some of them would only last for about 2 hours... FourBear August 24th, 2006, 09:28 AM I could see a portable dvd player being good for trips...heck, they even make ones that strap to the back of the front seats now for any kids (or adults) watching in the back. Still, sometimes I am frightened by the need of people to be watching a screen 24/7...oh wait, that's me with my laptop half the time. Slashmire August 25th, 2006, 06:41 AM I think that it's true that the best use for trips, is so that kids/infants can shut the h...I mean stay peacefully quiet. SuperAL August 25th, 2006, 12:44 PM I don't have children, but...what about just giving them books to read instead? sbarber77 August 26th, 2006, 05:16 PM My stepson is a reader but on long trips even The Hardy Boys can get boring after a while. Variety is the spice of life! Firewire August 26th, 2006, 06:54 PM After all the restrictions from the attempted terror plot, I think that sales of these little buggers will tank big time. People take them on planes all the time. They better be handing out more peanuts on my next flight. Otherwise, I'm going to go insane. I need my toyz! crimsonPetals September 1st, 2006, 07:51 PM I got my portable dvd player for free when I signed up with Direct TV. I love the thing :) I use it when I'm in the kitchen working or out on the deck tanning. Oddly enough, the other day I was watching old Hardy Boys shows on it.. heh My stepson is a reader but on long trips even The Hardy Boys can get boring after a while. Variety is the spice of life! kazscom September 12th, 2006, 02:33 PM I have just bought my husband one of these for his fishing trips.I got it on ebay for £60. |
