I finally went and upgraded my phone last week. I got the new LG 8500 or the chocolate. I love it. It has a 1. something mp camera and video, an mp3 player and the Vcast service, that I can't use. Still waiting for the EVDO technology to arrive in my neck of the woods. It's really small, but the buttons are somewhat overly sensitive, so still getting used to those.

Yeah, that thing looked pretty sweet (no pun intended). You'll have to let us know what you think in a couple weeks when you've mastered it.

Let me know how long it takes you to figure that thing out ;)
While I love all the new features on phones nowadays, sometimes I think it's almost too much. Cell phones shouldn't be that confusing, lol. Yet...that does look pretty cool.

My phone isn't all that high-speed...in fact, the teenager who comes to watch my kids sometimes has a more complicated phone than I do. I'm not sure what to think about that....

Hehe, don't think much about it, LyricB. They probably didn't buy that phone (I speak from experience...most of my friends in college have their parents buy them their Razors). And I also bet you haven't had to replace your phone near as often as some teenagers do. One of my friends is on his 3rd replacement phone because he keeps dropping it and cracking the screen. ;)

I finally got it all figured out. I love the extra features, like the mp3 player and camera. For me, it's more about functionality than anything. I no longer have to haul a mp3 player with me, and since the phone has a sd micro slot, I can continually update and change the music and videos without a lot of hassle. Being that I've hit the ripe old age of 26, I'm fairly responsible and have only 1 phone in my 8+ years of owning a phone (i do have insurance on this phone though ;) ).

I have an LG that's close to hitting 2 years old now and I've been very pleased with it. It's the 5550 and has the voice dialing and memos and such. I'm really thinking hard about getting the chocolate, but on the other hand, do I really need all the gadgets? I have 2 digital cameras that I love, the shuffle, nano, couple of mp3 players yada yada. It's just all TOO much lol.

Ouch... I was just excited to get a new phone, didn't know that qualified as spamming. I will refrain from visiting this board in the future and will tell my friends, family and acquaintances about the lovely admins here and the way they treat their members. The other posters asked me to tell them what I think, I did and so I get to be humiliated, wonderful.

The Chocolate does look like a very cool phone. I love the idea of having a cell, cam and MP3 all in one. I think my purse would be much lighter for it! I may have to go and check it out.

I'm researching for a new phone, and I'm torn on the Chocolate. I love the sleek Matrix like design and it's really beautiful to look at. But I don't know if I would use all of those extra features. I already have a high quality digiral camera, and mp3 players, but I heard the price was reasonable.
I really want a Sidekick because I think it would work great as an organizer but they cost so much. :(

I have access to a sidekick here. You're right. It was great while I had it, but the problem with it was that it was a horrible phone. It had poor reception and sounded horrible to me and to the person on the other side of the phone. It was also quite big. The new Sidekick III is supposed to be quite good. We call it a HipTop in Canada. I would find myself carrying both the sidekick and my other phone around.
It just wasn't enough coolness for me to give up the great phone qualities of my Nokia 6670. If they could make it a better phone, I'd be a happy camper.

That's good to know Firewire. I will check out the link to the Sidekick 3. Yeah I like my phones to be as small as possible and worry free.
