I'm all for hands-free with a cell phone, but for some reason those robotic looking ear sets that people wear ALL THE TIME really freak me out. Like I don't know if they're talking to me, or someone on the phone.
Personally, when I'm done with my conversation I take the piece out of my ear. You?

I can't use one. It hurts to wear it all the time. I'm not so important that I have to look like a dork :P
But if you're going to have to use your phone while driving, please use one, and don't talk with your hands!

Studies have shown it's completely irrelevant if you're using an earpiece or not when driving and talking on the phone, it's the conversation itself that affects your concentration. People with hands-free phones scored at best two points higher on driving tests than those holding a phone to their ears. The only thing it might be good for is voice dialing rather than having to push the actual buttons...but mine will do that on speaker phone. ;)
I don't have an earpiece. I see no point. :)

Okay, fine. Don't use it in your car at all, or practice doing that, not in traffic with me, until you get good!

I don't use one...I don't talk on my cell *that* often! I use it more for text messaging.

My area isn't all that wired yet. There are very few of those in use, other than at the desk, in the office. Most people take them out of the ear when they're not needed, even while working. I hope keeping it in doesn't catch on. I really think are few people in the world who need to be instantly accessible and they have people to answer the phone for them.

I hate using my phone when I am driving. Especially when I am driving a standard. I usually answer my phone and tell whomever it is that I will call back. Maybe an earpiece would be good but I would still rather concentrate on traffic.

That's why I have voice mail. ;) :D

I like technology, but I think cell phones in general are a menace! I don't understand what on earth would encourage people to want to be available to everybody 24 hours a day! I like to have the option of not picking up the phone when I don't want to talk. I have a cell phone, but only, like, 4 other people have the number.
Is anybody else like this with their cell phones?

Second sentence first...and it's a repeat. That's why I have voice mail! :D
As for why I would want to be available 24 hours a day...I'm not. The cell phone has an "off" switch. A landline phone is always on as well...why would you think not having a cell phone doesn't make you available for calls 24 hours a day, or that if you have a cell phone you have to answer it when it rings?
On the other hand, I work on an on-call basis, so if I'm not available for a call, I may or may not be working. Granted, they normally don't call after midnight or before 8am, but sometimes the office isn't notified about work until the last possible minute, so they can't help it.

I haven't used any of those sets, but I like them....they look..professional. (even if it may not be used for professional uses most of the time...)

The only reason I carry my cell phone on me at all is because I have little kids...I don't want to get stuck without a way of calling for help or be away from a phone while they're with a sitter.

heheh... I had the opportunity to go to a Sprint conference so I saw a few of those things. I think it's pretty halarious it's like watching the Borg. Cracks me up.

Plantronics recently sent me one to play with. I still haven't taken it out of the house, but use it around the house with my phone.
