"We all know that everything is better in color. So why don't we print in color all the time? Well, usually because it costs too much to feed those hungry inkjets. Konica Minolta has an affordable Laser Jet based solution to this dilemma..."

holy moly... that's about as big as my monitor

.....the first thing I thought of when I saw the name was... holy jeebus, it uses 2300 WATTS!...........:paranoid:

in the end it'sgotta be an office printer. but the lack of networking is a somewhat inconvenient problem.

At my work area, the printing room is quite noisy, but the printer there is networked to everyone on the floor.

We were just informed by Konica Minolta that the price of the printer has dropped to $499 US with a $100 US rebate that goes until the end of Sept 2004. $399 US for this printer! That's such a deal :thumb:

I still don't understand why if I order say... a heatsink, the shipping is like $9.

It's not the size of the item. It is the traceable method they use. THere is a minimum to ship it with tracking number. I could ship a swiss army knife, and it would cost me around 7.00 US or so just so that I can have a traceable method through Canada Post down to the US.

On page 3 of the article about the Minolta 2300W, it was written:

"We also tested the printer through the print server built into our wireless router and started firing print jobs to it from the other workstations. It took all the jobs without hesitation and happily switched from text to graphics on demand."

What print server (manufacturer, model, etc.) did you use?

I have a 2300W and have tried with a couple of different print servers with no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

It was a COMPEX Wireless Router. The router emulates a real USB port through TCP/IP. Hope that helps.

It was a COMPEX Wireless Router. ...

Well, it's been a year since you wrote that, so you might not know this any more, but I am wondering which model of COMPEX Wireless Router was working with your 2300W?

I'm hoping to find a print server device that will support both 2300W and its successor the 2400W (but not at the same time).

Best regards,
David

They have a current wireless unit called the NP28G - USB from COMPEX. I have it now, and it lets you to use more than one printer now.

Thanks, Firewire.

I have been learning that this printer does not work with a lot of current print server devices, even ones that support a wide range of printers.

From your reply, I cannot tell for sure: Do you happen to have successfully printed to a Konica Minolta 2300W via your Compex NP28G-USB?

I've had lots of different printers on this router, and it seems to work fine. Anywhere from colour lasers to inkjets. It mimics a USB port driven by the network so I think that is how it gets around some limitations.
