When I called up Swissbit to see if I could check out some of their new memory products, I expected to get some piddly 32 megabyte sample unit. Instead, the Swiss hooked me up and sent me their new TwistPro USB Memory product that boasts USB 2.0 transfer speeds and massive memory sizes in both two and four gigabyte flavours.
First Impressions
The TwistPro has a unique twist open packaging that not only protects the USB connector, but it also keeps the unit in one piece unlike some of the other drives on the market that use some sort of pen lid type cover that goes missing after a few days. Imagine the horror that you would feel if you just threw your term paper on the unit, only to find that you've been carrying the lid around...without the drive attached to it. Not Cool.
The TwistPro connector sports a clip, or you can attach a lanyard to it and keep it around your neck, or stick it on your keychain. The housing seems tough and should hold up to daily use and abuse.
System Requirements
The SwissBit TwistPro supports WinXP, 2000, and ME. Windows 98 requries a driver that is downloadable from their site. The product also supports Linux 2.4 kernels and above plus MAC OS 9.0 and higher. MAC OS 8.6 requires a mass storage device driver from Apple. Hardware requirements include at least a free USB 1.1 port or High Speed USB 2.0 port for best results and fastest transfer speeds. The unit is completely USB Bus Powered and does not requrie an external power source.
