First Impressions The YP-30SH looks like a Zippo lighter. It is so small, it is certainly something that you could be afraid of going missing. Luckily, Samsung has made the container so honking huge that there is no way that you could ever lose it again. The round cylindrical container that houses the unit and the accessories is enough to construct a whole case of YP-30SH's. Well, maybe some of the internals because thsi unit is actually made of aluminum too. I'd be a lot happier if they used a smaller box, and perhaps created a hardshell carry case for it so it can be slipped easily into your gym bag (are you listening Samsung?). With a player as small as this, it is often very difficult to access the buttons, especially with a set of cycling gloves on. The YP-30SH I found was not bad. with the important buttons like volume, seek, play, and stop all on the outer edges, I was able to fumble my way around the basic controls fairly easily. Even with such a small screen, the fonts were very readable and scrolled the name of the song and artist. The blue backlight only activates when you push a button, thus saving battery life, and quickly turns off after a few seconds of inactivity. The display also shows important information like the battery level, the equalizer setting, the time, and the current track. What's in the Box...err...Cyclinder?The package included the YP-30SH itself, one AAA alkaline battery, instruction manuals, earbud style headphones, arm strap, belt clip, neckstrap, and a tiny CD containing the YEPP Explorer software. System Requirements The YP-30SH supports both MAC and PC which is great for everyone. It will support both MAC OS 8.6-9.1, and Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. Both require 20 megs of disk space, and a USB port. It also asks for a VGA display, but if you don't have a VGA display, then how the heck are you reading this?
