When the Corsair Flash Voyager USB 2.0 Flash Memory drive landed on my desk, my first thought was, “My goodness, another USB flash key….?” And I hate to admit it, but I pushed it aside for about a week and a half and the Corsair Flash Voyager USB 2.0 Flash Memory got buried under a mountain of papers.
The Corsair Flash Voyager 512 Megabyte USB Memory Drive can be found for $55.95 at Digitally Unique. But using the Futurelooks Price Engine we found a lower price of $54.99 at Tiger Direct and an even lower price of $50.00 from ZipZoomFly.
Brice's Interesting Factoid...
Here is a bit of side note related to the entire USB Flash key idea. These mini USB flash keys are pretty much common place in the market today. The memory sizes are getting bigger and the cost to purchase a decent sized USB key are rapidly falling. It was only a few years ago, when they first hit the market, the technology was new and the cost was relatively expensive for the amount of memory you got. I have a friend that is a real techy guy. He does tonnes and tonnes of research and reading. He just loves technology and computers! He told me that the father of the USB Flash Key was the US Government.
He mentioned that these Flash Keys were originally designed for CIA field agents to help them quickly and easily transport/store information. Most every single computer on the planet has at least one USB port, so instead of carrying around low memory floppy disks or cumbersome and slow ZIP drives, you can carry a small, lightweight, and fast USB key. With relatively simple plug and play convenience, even if you have to load a small driver on older systems. Whether this story is true or not, it sound good and I’m gonna stick with it!
