COMPUTEX 2007 Spotlight - NZXT

  Submitted: 06-07-2007

 Summary:
NZXT was showing off some very cool new things at their private suite at COMPUTEX 2007 in Taipei. Johnny Hou, NZXT's chief designer has been busy pushing the design envelope again and has come up with some unique products. Let's have a look!

When we interviewed NZXT's Johnny Hou last year, we learned about how he gets his inspiration for his designs and how much customer feedback dictates how products evolve for the future. We also learned that Johnny loves to drive his manufacturers crazy by proposing designs that push the envelope of what could be physically done with a case. Let's see how far he pushed this year!

The LEXA Black Line

The LEXA is one of the cases that caused huge headaches for his manufacturers back in the day because of the unconventional rounded front case doors. Now that they've gotten over that, Johnny has refined the look of the case in a sleek black that is reminiscent of a certain super car from the 80's piloted by David Hasselhoff.

The NZXT Media Center Case - MC-A

Johnny has been hard at work on a new Media Center Case to complete NZXT's line up. This design borrows heavily from the NZXT ADAMAS with the heavy duty aluminum chassis. The chassis supports standard components and both mATX and ATX motherboards for good flexibility in build. The case is well ventilated and could be used as a gaming system which is NZXT's core focus. Looking like it is about 95% complete, we expect to see this one in the stores soon.

The NZXT Bargain Basement Solution

Johnny wanted to make sure that gamers that were on a budget were also taken care of so he went out and designed a $49 case. The case packs in all the cool features such as windowed side panel and good ventilation with the use of clear 120mm fans. He even managed to get my favourite blue LED's in there. Construction was pretty solid from our inspection and Johnny says that it will even accommodate the larger video cards from ATI and NVIDIA. Not bad for under fifty!

The NZXT HUSH...II?

Well, not exactly. Although the HUSH has only been out for about a month, it seems that people have been asking for a clear side panel. Well Johnny seems to be working on it. Hopefully NZXT offers it as a upgrade in the near future.
