NZXT Precise 650 Power Supply Review

  Submitted: 02-09-2007

 Summary:
With 650 Watts of juice, dual 12 volt rails, and ready for SLI and other dual graphic card solutions, it sounds like every other power supply out on the market. Besides the fact that it comes from NZXT, is there anything else unique about this power supply to set it apart from the sea of other units? Let's find out!

When it comes to computer enclosures, NZXT is among the most influential. With innovative designs and a huge cult following, what the heck are they doing making power supplies? I guess sometimes an innovator needs to follow the crowd...

Today we get to look at NZXT's Precise Power 650; the bigger of the two Precise Power Supplies. Despite the label on the box, the 450 watt unit doesn't exist, and the difference between this unit and the 550 watt unit is...well... 100 watts.

Features

  • NVIDIA SLI Ready Certified
  • Four sata connectors for more hard drive capacity
  • Built for stability and less ripple noise keeping your devices safe while maintaining low noise via 120mm cooling fan.
  • Combined power technology: automatic switching between standard dual +12v rails and combined power of both +12v rails.
  • Hush silent technology keeps noise quietly below 30 dba at full load.
  • Fully supports the rush power consumption of high frequency cpu & graphic cards.
  • +12v current increased to meet more peripheral devices and high-end cpu
  • Supports high end graphic card's pci express requirements
  • +5vsb current up to 2.5a to fully support more USB 2.0 plug and play devices.
  • Industry standard protection: over voltage, current, short circuit, scan-disk-free, and voltage surge protection.
  • Stable regulation on +3.3v / +5v / +12b at 5%

That's a lot of cool features, but let's see how it works in real life. Movin' on...
