CES 2007 Spotlight - ThermalTake USA

  Submitted: 01-14-2007

 Summary:
On the Second Day of CES, ThermalTake showed to me... a ton of heatsinks and power supplies, and some really funny looking things. How funny you ask? Read on to find out!

Even through the hustle and bustle of the CES show, it was not difficult to spot Thermaltake from a mile away. Known for some pretty off the wall ideas of product design, our curiousity was satiated by an invitation to check out their upcoming products.

Looking to the future of gaming (nuclear power plants), TT has a 1200W beast ready to make you fear the power bill (for real this time). Actually, you'll probably want to move up north (Canada for the win!) so that the temperatures will be normal once you power up your quad core CPU with triple GPU thermonuclear power.

Ultimate....POWER!

More important though is the inclusion of next-next gen support for 8-pin PCI-E connections. What does that mean? 75W from the PCI-E slot on the motherboard, 75W from a single 6-pin... And now we have an extra two pins for "ePenis" support. It's that amazing.

Thermal Take is also expanding into network storage enclosures with their Muse Nas-Raid. There are two models, a slimmer enclosure for two SATA drives and a four-SATA enclosure.

SwordMan...Ooo...

Being proudly displayed was the SwordMan PC case that reeks of $$$ with its pimping hydraulics for automatic opening of case panels. Lastly, there were some... "other interesting things" that we thought deserved a few pokes and prods...

UFO indeed...

Though it is somewhat questionable if some of these products will actually provide true performance gains, Thermaltake does get the nod for making us do a "Double Take" on their products from time to time. Look for these and more outrageous looking products coming up in 2007!
