FOXCONN GeForce 7950GT 512MB GDDR3 Video Card Review

  Submitted: 01-04-2007

 Summary:
With the sea of massive dual slot graphics cards out there, one would think that high performance graphics cards had to have monster heatsinks as a pre-requisite. However, FOXCONN has shown us that this is definitely not the case. The slim profile of this 7950GT based video card shows that it can be done on a diet.

Believe it or not, FOXCONN is one of the largest electronics and computer hardware manufacturers around the world. They make all sorts of electronic parts including some of the reference motherboards for INTEL to the connectors and PCB parts used on a lot of motherboards made by other manufacturers.

A couple years back, FOXCONN started putting out their own brand of motherboards. Then earlier this year, they decided to pursue the hotly contested graphics card market. Today we'll be looking at one of their NVIDIA powered entries based on the GeForce 7950GT GPU.

FOXCONN has packaged their 7960GT offering into a fairly large, colourful box with a smooth grainy texture to it. The artsy fartsy look of the graphics may turn some off, but there is no mistaking the performance inside the box.  Did I mention that there is also a gamepad shoved inside this box among the usual software CD's and DVI to VGA adapters? Yes, a Gamepad!

Video Card, Manual, Component Out, DVI-VGA....Gamepad?

If that's not enough of an incentive then read on to see how the 7950GT strikes a balance between speed and physical size.
