GlacialTech Silent Blade 80mm Cooling Fan Review

  Submitted: 02-04-2007

 Summary:
Computer case fans collect dust, stop spinning, start squealing, but no one seems to care. For PC enthusiasts, failing fans mean failing performance. Things get hot faster and no longer perform as well. We check out some fans that not only cool well, but they do it quieter.

There are a lot of different cooling fans on the market, and typically, if they aren't squawking or making noise, people just seem to forget about them. Especially if they haven't stopped spinning. Recently, our local computer wholesaler Synapsis recommended that we test out some fans that they were carrying. Now fans are pretty boring, but they insisted that we look at these fans made by GlacialTech because they were HOT! OK then...

Although I've never heard of Glacial Tech, they have a very interesting story...

GlacialTech, Inc. was established in June 2001 by a team of 8 world-class researchers (PhDs) and three factory owners. Its technological areas of expertise include specialized thermal theory, soldering and mounting technologies, mechanism design, test and verification environment build-up and advanced conduct material development.

Well, with that many PhDs, they better be making some good fans. In addition to cooling fans, they also manufacturer full heatsink and custom cooling solutions for OEM applications. Today, we check out their GlacialTech Silent Blade 80mm Cooling Fans (Model GT80252BDL-1) to see if they can help out the horribly loud ThermalTake Mozart SX case we reviewed .
